GPT-5 Chat is the non-reasoning GPT-5 model used in ChatGPT, exposed in the API only through the mutable `gpt-5-chat-latest` alias; OpenAI published no dated snapshot identifier for it. OpenAI documents it as distinct from the GPT-5 reasoning API model; the alias was later deprecated and shut down on July 23, 2026.
