Inflection-1 is Inflection AI's proprietary foundation large language model, announced in June 2023 and used as the basis for Pi. Inflection evaluated the pretrained foundation model without fine-tuning or alignment, while the Pi deployment used a variant adapted with human preferences and a safety policy. The company reported training Inflection-1 on a large dataset using thousands of NVIDIA H100 GPUs and did not disclose its architecture, dataset, or training procedure.
